ul. Wojska Polskiego, Kowary
Diabelska Ambona is a group of crags in the forest on the slopes above Kowary, at about 573 m above sea level. A viewpoint over the town and the valley was once arranged here; today the grown-up forest largely blocks the panorama, but the cluster of rock blocks itself remains striking. The crags lie some hundred metres above the road carrying the red trail, close to the park surrounding the Wysoka Łąka hospital.
The climb starts by Wojska Polskiego Street in Kowary. The path passes the Jola Spring, where Protestants from the area once gathered for prayer. It then rises through the forested slope to the red trail, from which a short, steep pull leads to the rocks themselves. Allow roughly an hour for the walk there and back.
This is a destination for those who like quiet, little-visited spots on the edge of the Karkonosze and the Rudawy Janowickie. The approach is short but steep and rooty, and there are no railings by the rocks, so firm footwear helps. The place combines well with a longer walk along the slopes above the town.
