Wieś Będkowice
Sokolica rises in the middle section of the Będkowska Valley, beside the village of Będkowice in the Kraków district. At around 90 metres it is considered the tallest rock of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The limestone massif dominates the valley floor and is its most recognisable feature.
Archaeological research has shown that a large hill fort once stood on the summit plateau — remains of its ramparts survive. Traces of Neolithic settlement and of the Lusatian culture were also found here. Numerous climbing routes have been set on walls reaching 60 metres, making Sokolica one of the most visited climbing rocks in the region.
The summit itself is accessible without equipment — a path from the east, on the Będkowice side, leads up from Browar street by the cemetery. At the foot of the rock a small refreshment point operates in season, along with a campsite and an agritourism farm.
