Wieś Wetlina
The Ostrowski Waterfall is a small cascade of about five metres, hidden in woodland near Wetlina in the heart of the Bieszczady Mountains. Despite its modest size it is regarded as the best-known waterfall in this part of the range — the water drops from a rock step into a small basin surrounded by beech forest.
It is most impressive in spring and after heavier rainfall, when the stream carries plenty of water; in summer the flow can shrink considerably. Around the step, layers of Carpathian flysch typical of the Bieszczady are exposed, and flat sandstone slabs line the bed of the stream. It is a short, shady stop that combines well with a trip to the meadows above Wetlina.
Access runs along the road branching off towards the Piotrowa Polana and Leśny Dwór resorts. After a few minutes a sign by the road indicates the descent to the waterfall; the final stretch is a steep slope, slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear helps.
