Wieś Olsztyn
Biakło is a limestone hill of about 340 m above sea level, rising just beyond the village of Olsztyn near Częstochowa. It is built of hard Jurassic rocky limestone that survived erosion as a group of tors towering over the surrounding fields and woods. It is sometimes called the Little Giewont of the Jura, after the metal cross set on top of a twenty-metre rock.
The summit offers a wide panorama over Jurassic villages, fields and forests, and in good weather also over the castle ruins in Olsztyn. The individual rock forms have their own names — Grab, Mnich, Sfinks, Blin and Okręt — and are used by climbers. Worn paths wind among them and let you walk around the whole hill.
The black and green trails lead from Olsztyn up to Biakło. The route is about 1.7 km long and the climb takes roughly half an hour. The path is steep in places and polished on the limestone, so it can be slippery after rain.
