Kowary
Kowarska Skała is a granite tor on the slope of Skalnik, at around 540 m above sea level, towering over Kowary. The outcrop itself is about 17 metres high. For decades it was a popular viewpoint; today the panorama is largely screened by grown trees, which does not take away the atmosphere of this forgotten corner of the Rudawy Janowickie.
The rock is formed of the granite typical of the Karkonosze and its surroundings, clearly marked by weathering processes. A stone chute, gouged over the years by rainwater running down the face, draws particular attention. Steps cut long ago in the rock lead to the top, narrow and steep and slippery on damp days, so the climb calls for care.
The rock lies close to the green and blue trails leaving Kowary. The section is just under 2 km long and takes about half an hour on foot. The trip can easily be extended towards Skalnik.
