Wieś Smoleń
Zegarowe Skały is a group of limestone tors in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, near the village of Smoleń in Zawiercie County. Their white walls rise above the treetops on the ridge closing the Wodąca Valley, so they are visible from far away. The rocks are among the most distinctive formations in this part of the Polish Jura.
The massif contains more than a dozen caves and rock shelters, including Jaskinia Jasna, Schronisko Południowe and Schronisko w Zegarowych Skałach Pierwsze. The name refers to a legend about a clock or a bell whose chiming is said to be heard inside one of the caves on Christmas Eve. The walls are also used by climbers.
The red Trail of the Eagles' Nests from Olkusz leads to the rocks, as does the blue Trail of Jurassic Strongholds from Wolbrom via Dłużec. A visit combines easily with the nearby castle ruins in Smoleń and a walk through the whole Wodąca Valley.
