Lwówek Śląski
Panieńskie Skałki lie right next to Lwówek Śląski in the Izera Foothills, at about 240–255 m above sea level. Together with the neighbouring Lwówek Rocks they form the largest cluster of rock formations in the area. The site is protected within the Natura 2000 network.
The rocks are surrounded by a belt of Central European oak-hornbeam forest with a rich shrub layer. Protection covers the siliceous rock walls and cliffs with their characteristic rock vegetation as well as fragments of the surrounding woodland. Mosses, lichens and ferns grow on the rock surfaces, and the crevices shelter small animals.
A visit takes about half an hour — enough to follow the path between the rock blocks and reach the taller walls. It pairs well with a walk around Lwówek Śląski, known for its Gothic town hall and town walls, and with the nearby Lwówek Rocks.
