Szklarska Poręba
Kukułcze Skały is a group of granite tors in the western Karkonosze Mountains, set between the valleys of the Szrenicki and Bystry streams at about 1050–1125 m above sea level. They consist of three clustered rock towers reaching up to seven metres in height.
Granite blocks torn from the parent massif lie scattered at the foot of the tors. The walls clearly show fractures running in three directions — granite joints — which shaped the towers during long-lasting weathering. Local accounts claim that the strongest winds can set the summit blocks in motion.
The rocks are reached by the yellow trail from Szklarska Poręba-Marysin towards the „Pod Łabskim Szczytem” mountain hut. The ascent is long and takes several hours there and back, so it is worth combining it with a stop at the hut or a further ridge walk. The entire section runs within the Karkonosze National Park, where leaving the trail is prohibited.
