Jakuszyce, Szklarska Poręba
Granicznik is a solitary granite rock about 12 metres high in the Izera Mountains, close to the Orle hostel in the municipality of Szklarska Poręba and right on the Polish-Czech border. It stands near the bridge over the Izera river, surrounded by the forests and peat bogs typical of the range.
Two trails leading from the Orle hostel reach the rock: a red one towards Przełęcz Szklarska and a green one to the bridge over the Izera. Both sections are short, about a quarter of an hour on foot. Walkers starting from Polana Jakuszycka cover some four and a half kilometres of flat forest road.
Granicznik is used for climbing, but the fixed equipment is minimal — only two bolts at the base — so full protection gear must be brought along. The area is among the wildest in the Western Sudetes: the Izera valley, wide clearings and the cross-country ski network around Jakuszyce.
