ul. Mączna, Częstochowa
Skała Balika is a limestone tor about 20 metres high, rising in the Warta valley on the outskirts of Częstochowa. Together with the neighbouring rock known as Jaś i Małgosia it forms a natural narrowing called the Mirów Gate, at the point where the river cuts into the limestone hills of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland.
The walls of the tor are one of the more popular climbing spots around Częstochowa. More than a dozen routes have been set here, most of them demanding, on solid, sculpted limestone. Climbers need their own equipment and experience.
The top of the rock also serves as a viewpoint over the Warta gorge and the riverside meadows. The cave known as Jaskinia w Balikowej Skale lies right beside it, and the whole valley is walking country, with paths threading between limestone outcrops. Access from Mączna street.
