A gorge in the heart of the Małe Pieniny

Wąwóz Homole is a rocky ravine cut by the Kamionka stream in the Małe Pieniny range, right next to the village of Jaworki in the Nowy Targ district. Limestone walls rise dozens of metres above the streambed and at the narrowest point stand only a few metres apart. The whole area is a nature reserve, so visitors move along one designated route.

Walking through the gorge

The trail through the ravine is about 800 m long and takes 30 to 45 minutes, partly on boardwalks and steps that follow the stream. Beyond the exit the path leads out onto the Wyżnia Biała Woda clearing, from where the green trail continues through Rówieńki and Polana pod Wysoką up to Wysokie Skałki, the highest peak of the Małe Pieniny.

Access and surroundings

The most convenient approach is from Jaworki, where car parks are available and buses stop close to the mouth of the gorge. The area rewards a longer stay: nearby lie the spa town of Szczawnica and the Dunajec river gorge.

  • Car parks in Jaworki near the entrance
  • Boardwalks and steps along the ravine
  • Signposted entrance and green hiking trail
