Ciezkowice, Jaworzno
Dolina Żabnika is a nature reserve in the Ciężkowice district of Jaworzno, covering the valley of a small stream over some 42 hectares; together with its buffer zone the protected area exceeds 150 hectares. It is one of the most visited natural sites in this part of Upper Silesia.
Peat bogs, wet meadows and pine forest sit side by side in a small area. More than 360 species of vascular plants and over a hundred mosses have been recorded here, among them round-leaved sundew, umbellate wintergreen, great leopard's bane and needle spike-rush. Of roughly a hundred animal species, several dozen are protected, including the common toad, lizards and the adder.
A green walking and cycling trail runs through the valley from Sławkowska street to the reserve. Along the way it is worth seeing the monumental pedunculate oak and the old wayside shrines on Ciężkowicka, Grabańka and Zdrojowa streets.
