Green heart of Katowice

Dolina Trzech Stawów, known in Silesian as Sztauwajery, lies in Katowice where the Paderewski housing estate meets Muchowiec, a few minutes from the city centre. A group of ponds surrounded by the Katowice Forest Park forms the largest recreation area in this part of the city and at the same time a refuge for water birds.

Recreation by the water

Walking and cycling paths run around the ponds, and there is a marina, a beach volleyball court and a city bike station. One of the reservoirs hosts the headquarters of the Silesian Canoeing Association, so kayakers and canoeists are a regular sight on the water. Angling is popular here as well.

For visitors

The terrain is flat and easy, ideal for a short walk, a run or an outing with children. There are car parks, restaurants along the shore and a campsite, which makes it easy to combine a visit with a longer stop and sightseeing in Katowice.
