Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich is a high-mountain valley in the High Tatras, between the Kozi Wierch massif and Morskie Oko. It owes its name to a group of post-glacial lakes, led by Wielki Staw Polski – the deepest lake in the Polish Tatras. The whole area lies above the tree line, within Tatra National Park.
The hike starts at Palenica Białczańska, from where trails run through the Roztoka Valley past Siklawa, the highest waterfall in the Polish Tatras. The round trip covers more than a dozen kilometres and takes a full day. In winter it can be icy and calls for crampons and experience.
The valley holds the highest mountain hut in Poland, a base for trips to Kozi Wierch, Świnica and the Orla Perć ridge. National park rules apply: walking only on marked trails, no camping and no swimming in the lakes. Cars and motorhomes are left at the large car park in Palenica Białczańska.
