A nature reserve near Kraków

Dolina Mnikowska in the village of Mników is one of the small valleys near Kraków, protected as a nature reserve. Walking its floor covers about two kilometres and takes just under half an hour. The route is flat and free of climbs, so families with children handle it easily, even with a large-wheeled pushchair.

A painting on the rock

The centre of the valley is a broad clearing overlooked by a rock bearing the image of Our Lady of Skała, painted directly onto the limestone wall. The path alternates between woodland and open ground among crags, and the valley slopes hide numerous caves and rock shelters.

Getting there and walking on

The valley is reached by road number 780 through the Bielany-Tyniec Landscape Park; the car park lies by the bus terminus, right next to the start of the blue trail. A city bus from Kraków also serves the village. The walk can be extended through the wooded Półrzeczki Gorge or towards Chrosna.
