A hut in the heart of the Karkonosze

Strzecha Akademicka is a year-round mountain hut inside Karkonosze National Park, set between the Mały Staw cirque and Biały Jar. It stands on one of the most popular routes to Śnieżka, the highest peak of the range, which makes it a natural stopping point for walkers and skiers throughout the year.

On site

The hut offers beds, food and drink and washrooms, and in winter there is a drag lift and the Złotówka ski run. The surroundings open onto views of the glacial cirques and the main Karkonosze ridge, so it is worth planning a longer stop rather than a quick break.

Approach trails

A trail junction lies right beside the hut. The yellow trail comes up from Karpacz, the black one climbs through Biały Jar and continues along the Silesian Road, and the most scenic is the blue trail from the Wang church. The walk takes up to two hours; a year-round chairlift also operates.
