Szklarska Poręba
Wysoki Kamień, 1058 m above sea level, rises in the High Ridge of the Izera Mountains above Szklarska Poręba. Granite rocks crown the top, and the open clearing around the remains of the former mountain hut forms a natural viewing terrace.
The view takes in almost the whole of the Karkonosze range with Śnieżka, Szrenica and the Śnieżne Kotły cirques, as well as the Jelenia Góra Valley, the Rudawy Janowickie, Stóg Izerski and Wysoka Kopa. In exceptionally clear air the Czech Jested and even Ślęża near Wrocław can be made out.
The most popular approach leads from Szklarska Poręba along the red Main Sudetes Trail and takes about an hour. The paths in the area are gentle and suit a family outing, but in winter they can be icy and call for proper footwear.
