Chatka Puchatka, also called Tawerna, stands on Połonina Wetlińska at about 1232 m above sea level. It is the highest situated hut of its kind in the Bieszczady range; Cisna lies some 18 km away, and regional road 897 leads into the area below the meadow ridge.
The building was raised in the 1950s as a military observation post. In 1956 it was handed over to the Rzeszów branch of PTTK, which turned it first into a mountain shelter and, from 1967, into a staffed hut. Its poor condition led to demolition in 2020 and the construction of a new building on the same spot.
The shortest approach is the yellow trail from the car park at Przełęcz Wyżna: roughly 2.5 km and an hour of walking, with around 350 m of ascent. A gentler alternative starts near Wetlinka and covers about 4 km in some two hours.
