On the border in the Karkonosze

The PTTK mountain hut at Okraj Pass stands on the Polish-Czech border, between the Kowarski and Lasocki ridges, on the edge of Karkonosze National Park. Administratively it belongs to Kowary. It consists of two buildings: one holds the reception and the restaurant area, the other the rooms and a lounge with a fireplace.

Staying and getting there

Hikers can eat a hot meal here, rest by the campfire and stay overnight. It is one of the few huts in the Karkonosze you may drive up to, with a car park next to the building. Shuttle buses also run here from Karpacz, Kowary and Czech Pec pod Sněžkou.

Trails and winter

Hiking, cycling and ski trails cross at the pass, so almost every part of the Karkonosze can be reached from here. The Polish-Czech Friendship Trail and the Czech Fairytale Path both pass through. In winter several ski slopes and cross-country tracks operate nearby.
