Wieś Teremiski
The Royal Oaks Trail is a nature path of barely one kilometre in the Białowieża Forest, laid out near the village of Teremiski in the Hajnówka district. It runs between the most impressive pedunculate oaks of this part of the forest – trees with girths measured in metres and ages reaching several hundred years.
The individual oaks bear the names of Polish rulers, which gives the walk its order and links it to the history of royal hunts in the forest. Along the route there are more than a dozen stops with boards describing the flora and fauna of Białowieża National Park, the structure of the old-growth stand and the role of deadwood in a natural forest.
The path is short, flat and easy, so it works well as a walk for families with children and as an introduction to the forest before longer routes. Access by car from Białowieża or Hajnówka.
