On Boardwalks across Bagno Bubnów

The Czahary nature trail starts in Zastawie, by the viewing tower of the Polesie National Park, and is about 6.5 kilometres long. It is the park's first route leading across Bagno Bubnów — a vast, open complex of peat bogs and one of the most valuable wetland areas in this part of Europe.

What You Can See

Wooden boardwalks allow you to enter areas that are normally inaccessible. From platforms and towers you can watch cranes, curlews, snipes and the aquatic warbler — a rare, tiny bird for which Polesie is one of the last refuges. Elk and red deer also appear here.

How to Visit

Walking the whole route usually takes two to two and a half hours. The trail is flat but runs across open ground with almost no shade — a hat, a supply of water and binoculars all come in useful. The best time for birdwatching is spring and early summer, during the mating season.

  • Wooden boardwalks along the route
  • Viewing towers and platforms
  • Educational boards
  • Roofed rest spots
Visit duration: approx. 2 hours Seasonality: All year round, most interesting in spring and early summer
