A trail in the heart of Polesie

The „Obóz Powstańczy” nature and history trail runs through the northern part of Poleski National Park and starts in the village of Lipniak in Parczew County. It is about four kilometres long and takes roughly two hours to walk — the terrain is flat, a mix of forest and meadow, with no demanding climbs.

Traces of the January Uprising

The forests around Lipniak once sheltered one of the largest camps of the January Uprising insurgents in the Lublin region. Insurgents' graves survive along the route, together with a mighty oak that tradition links to those events. Information boards describe life in a partisan camp hidden among marshes that regular troops could hardly reach.

Nature and the observation tower

The other face of the trail is wet meadows, alder carrs and beaver lodges visible straight from the path. At the edge of the meadow called „Pociągi” stands an observation tower — the best spot for watching wildlife at dawn and dusk. Elk, red deer, roe deer and beavers appear here, and among birds cranes and the tawny owl. Bring binoculars and mosquito repellent.

  • Car park at the trailhead
  • Marked route with information boards
  • Wooden observation tower over the „Pociągi” meadow
Visit duration: approx. 2 hours Seasonality: Year-round, best from spring to autumn
