The Boryszyn Loop underground

The Boryszyn Loop is an accessible section of the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region, a German line of fortifications from the 1930s stretching between Świebodzin and Międzyrzecz. Beneath the village of Boryszyn run tunnels linking bunkers, barracks, engine rooms and underground stations.

How to visit

The routes are covered with a guide, on foot or by bike. The walking option comes in a shorter version covering the loop itself and a longer one that adds the fortified group. The cycling trip requires booking in advance and bikes can be hired on site.

Good to know

Temperatures underground range from about 6 to 10 degrees, so a jacket and warm clothing are needed in every season. Your own torch is useful, and a head torch for cyclists. The tunnels are a bat hibernation site, so quiet is required and lights must not be pointed at them.

  • Car park at the entrance to the tunnels
  • Visitor service point and guides
  • Bike hire on site
  • Walking and cycling routes underground
Visit duration: approx. 3 hours Seasonality: Tourist season spring–autumn; limited visiting in winter
