Underground complex beneath Kamienna Góra

Projekt Arado is a route running through tunnels cut into the rock beneath Kamienna Góra in Lower Silesia. The underground was built during the Second World War for the German armaments industry: it housed laboratory rooms and halls producing aircraft parts.

What the visit looks like

The corridors are filled with light installations and sound effects, and the guide plays the role of an intelligence agent. Along the route are a reconstruction of the assembly hall of the Arado 234 aircraft, a model of the Arado 555 prototype and exhibits linked to the V-1 and V-2 weapons, radars and the Enigma; some of them are authentic parts of the machines.

Good to know

The tour takes about an hour and is guided. Whatever the season, it is cold and damp underground, so warmer clothing and shoes with good grip come in handy. A good idea for a rainy day, also with slightly older children.
