Zabytkowa Kopalnia Ignacy is the surface complex of a former hard coal mine in the Niewiadom district of Rybnik. It was opened to visitors in the late 1990s and included in the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.
The greatest impression is made by the historic steam engines that served the Głowacki and Kościuszko shafts, among the few still operational in Upper Silesia. The administration building houses an exhibition on the history and culture of mining in the region.
The water tower, about 46 metres high, now serves as a viewpoint with a panorama of Rybnik and its surroundings. The underground workings are not open, so the whole visit takes place on the surface, which makes access easier for people with reduced mobility.
