Wieś Strzegowa
Jasna Cave lies in Strzegowa in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, inside a limestone outcrop rising above the valley. It is about 85 metres long and owes its name to its bright interior — the wide entrance lets in enough daylight for the main chamber to be seen without a torch. Access is free, with no tickets and no guide.
The interior is shaped by pillars, chimneys and rock grooves, and a vertical shaft drops away from the main chamber, so move carefully and carry a torch. Archaeological research has revealed several settlement layers reaching back to the Pleistocene, along with traces of flint tool production.
The rocks around the cave form a popular climbing area with bolted routes of varying difficulty. The walk up from the village takes about fifteen minutes along a forest path. Nearby stand further Jurassic outcrops and strongholds of the Trail of the Eagles Nests, so the cave fits easily into a longer hike.
