A lake at the heart of Sztum

Jezioro Sztumskie, listed officially as Zajezierskie, wraps around the town of Sztum in the Powiśle region from the west. The lake covers about 50 hectares, its shores are gentle and largely wooded, and its eastern end reaches the edge of the built-up area. A promenade runs along the water, with views of the surface and the castle walls.

By the water

The town-side shore is developed: there is a water equipment rental, designated rest areas and jetties used by anglers. The lake suits sailing, kayaking and pedal boats, while the shallower bays warm up enough in summer to attract families with children.

What is nearby

Right above the lake stands the Teutonic castle in Sztum, once a summer residence of the grand masters and now open to visitors. Cycling trails cross the area, among them the Euro Route R-1 and the Vistula and Copernicus routes, making it easy to plan full-day trips around Powiśle and Żuławy.
