Wisła
Lake Czerniańskie lies in Wisła, in the heart of the Silesian Beskids, at the confluence of the Biała and Czarna Wisełka streams. The artificial reservoir serves flood retention purposes and at the same time supplies drinking water to the surrounding towns. It is enclosed by steep, forested slopes descending from Barania Góra, so the water surface reflects a wall of spruce forest.
Because of its water-supply function, the lake is not open for swimming or water sports. Visitors can, however, walk onto the crest of the dam, where a promenade with a viewpoint overlooks the lake and the ridge of Beskid peaks. It is a short but striking stop — crossing the dam takes about a quarter of an hour and requires no fitness preparation.
Nearby are the waterfall on the Biała Wisełka, the Wisła nature reserve and the Historic Residence of the Presidents of Poland in Wisła-Czarne. Trails to Barania Góra and deeper into the Silesian Beskids also start here. Families with children enjoy the Wiślańska Ciuchcia tourist train touring the most interesting corners of the town.
