Wieś Niechorze
The Jezioro Liwia Łuża Nature Reserve covers a shallow coastal lake in Niechorze, about a kilometre inland from the sea beach. The lake connects with the Baltic through a channel of the same name, which gives its water a brackish character. The reserve was established in 1959 and today covers nearly 240 hectares within the Rewal municipality.
Protection extends to the lake ecosystem together with its rushes, reed beds and adjoining wet meadows. This is an important breeding ground and a stopover for migrating birds — watchers look here above all for waterfowl and wading species. Access into the reserve itself is restricted; nature is observed from the shore and designated spots.
A circular green trail, the Liwia Łuża Trail, runs around the lake and suits walkers, runners and cyclists alike. The route can be extended by joining the coastal E9 trail named after Czesław Piskorski. The walk is best combined with a visit to Niechorze itself, its lighthouse and the Baltic shore.
