A lake within Gdańsk city limits

Jezioro Wysockie, known in Kashubian as Jezoro Wësocczé, lies in the Osowa district in the north-western part of Gdańsk, on the edge of the Kashubian Lake District. Despite its city address the lake has kept a quiet, suburban character — it is surrounded by woodland and detached houses, and getting there from Gdańsk or Gdynia is quick by car and by public transport alike.

On the water

A grassy beach has been arranged on the southern shore and is the spot locals pick for summer afternoons. The western shore is occupied by a sailing school with a water equipment rental, so the lake doubles as a place to learn to sail. Anglers catch bream, tench, roach, pike, perch, crucian carp, carp and eel here.

The surroundings

Walking paths run along the shores, and for a longer hike there is the Szlak Źródła Marii trail linking Gdynia Wielki Kack with Osowa. It leads through the forests of the Tri-City Landscape Park.
