A reservoir in the Bóbr valley

Jezioro Bukówskie is an artificial dam reservoir on the Bóbr river, located by the village of Paprotki in the Lubawka commune, Kamienna Góra county. It was created by damming the river gorge and was later enlarged with an additional side dam on the western shore. It lies high above sea level, which makes it one of the highest reservoirs of its kind in Poland.

Recreation by the water

Beaches, jetties, footbridges and walking paths have been laid out around the lake, along with cycling routes and beach volleyball courts. There is a slipway for launching watercraft and sanitary facilities. The shores have long attracted anglers, and climbing routes are being developed on the nearby rocks as part of Polish-Czech cooperation.

Nature and surroundings

Although the reservoir is not a nature reserve, its surroundings are ecologically valuable — many bird species stop on the water and in the shoreline thickets. Lubawka, Krzeszów and the ridges of the Krucze Mountains are close by, so the lake often serves as a base for trips into the Central Sudetes.
