A lobelia lake in Kashubia

Jezioro Karlikowskie lies in Kartuzy county in Kashubia, in a post-glacial trough running west of the village of Borkowo, south of Lake Głębokie. It is a kettle-hole lobelia lake, meaning a body of water poor in nutrients and exceptionally clear — such lakes are rare in Poland and sensitive to pollution. Its water is classed in the second purity class.

Time by the water

The lake has no extensive beach infrastructure, but a campsite with a bathing area open in the summer season operates on the southern shore. The reservoir is privately owned yet open to anglers. Holiday cabins and villas stand in the woods on the Borkowo side.

Who it suits

This is a place for those looking for quiet rather than organised attractions. The characteristic green tint of the water can appear as early as May.
