Wieś Solina
Jezioro Solińskie is a dam reservoir on the San river, created by the village of Solina in Lesko county. It has a highly indented shoreline with numerous bays fed by mountain streams. The steep, wooded banks and views of the Bieszczady ridges have earned the area the nickname of the Polish Switzerland.
Combustion engines are banned across the whole reservoir, but kayaking, pedal boats, sailing and windsurfing are all possible. The water is not easy: the wind is changeable, the banks steep and the surface broken up by bays. In summer excursion boats operate, and swimming is allowed only at designated bathing areas.
A typical resort has grown around the lake, with holiday centres, restaurants and souvenir stalls, while the dam itself remains the biggest magnet. It is worth stopping in Myczkowce and Polańczyk, or heading further into the Bieszczady mountains.
