A lake on the edge of Tychy

Lake Paprocańskie, also called Paprocany, lies in the south-western part of Tychy in the Silesian Voivodeship. The reservoir of some 132 ha serves as flood protection for several city districts and is at the same time the most popular recreation area in Tychy. A promenade and walking and cycling paths run along its shores.

Recreation by the water

The main base is the Paprocany Recreation Centre run by MOSiR Tychy: a supervised bathing area, a beach, sports pitches and an asphalt tennis court. There are rentals of sports and watercraft equipment, a marina and a campsite.

Nature and angling

The lake is rich in fish – anglers catch perch, pike, eel, carp, bream, catfish, ide and asp, and even grass carp. The nearby Pszczyna forests make bird watching easy along the banks, while the wide lakeside avenues are convenient for families with children and for cyclists.
