A forest lake in Kashubia

Jezioro Sitno lies in the Kashubian Lakeland near Kartuzy in Pomeranian Voivodeship, surrounded on all sides by coniferous forest. The lake covers just under 74 ha and reaches a maximum depth of about 7 m. The water is clean — the lush underwater vegetation, clearly visible near the banks, confirms it.

Fishing and swimming

Sitno has a reputation as good fishing water: roach, perch, pike and carp occur here, and crayfish are occasionally caught. Anglers come throughout the season, most often to the forested banks. A beach with a bathing area has been laid out on the eastern side and is the main focus of summer recreation. The rest of the shoreline stays natural and harder to reach.

Surroundings

Agritourism farms and small guesthouses operate around the lake, so it is easy to stay longer than a day. The setting is the classic landscape of Kashubian Switzerland: moraine hills, forests and further lakes connected by walking and cycling trails. Nature lovers will find rare plant and tree species here.
