A reservoir at the foot of Śnieżnik

The reservoir in Stara Morawa lies in the Śnieżnik Massif, about 1.3 km from Stronie Śląskie in Lower Silesian Voivodeship. It was created in 2007 with European funding and ranks among the highest-lying reservoirs in Poland. It was designed for water retention, but from the outset it was also meant as a recreational base for residents and visitors.

What is on site

The shores are extensively developed. A beach with a supervised bathing area occupies the south-western side, and there are a pier and jetties, a viewing tower, a camping and tent field, sports pitches, a playground with a climbing wall, outdoor chess tables and a table-tennis table. Catering and sanitary facilities operate here, so a stay can easily be extended over several days.

Trips in the area

The reservoir works well as a base. The trails of the Śnieżnik Massif, including the slopes of Krzyżnik, start nearby, as does the route to the Bear Cave in Kletno. In winter the nearby ski resorts of Czarna Góra and Kamienica operate, while Stronie Śląskie provides basic supplies.
