A post-mining reservoir in Jaworzno

The Sosina Reservoir, also known as Zbiornik Sosina, lies in Jaworzno in the Silesian Voivodeship. It was created in the 1960s in the pit of the former “Szczakowa” sand mine, which is why it has a sandy bottom and gentle entries into the water. Today it is one of the most popular recreation areas in the eastern part of the conurbation.

Leisure by the water

The south-western shore is the developed part: sandy and grassy beaches, a supervised bathing area, beach volleyball courts, a watercraft rental and an amphitheatre that hosts open-air events in summer.

Nature and surroundings

A small island in the reservoir is settled by water birds and protected – it is best watched from a canoe, without going ashore. Walking and cycling trails run around the water, and there are car parks and food outlets at the main entrance.
