A lake in the heart of Wągrowiec

Jezioro Durowskie is a ribbon lake lying within the boundaries of Wągrowiec, in the Pałuki region of northern Wielkopolska. It stretches north of the town centre, and its eastern shore is closed off by a municipal park and a row of early twentieth-century tenement houses. The walk from the market square down to the water takes about fifteen minutes.

On the water

A town beach with a sandy entry and a seasonal bathing area operates on Kościuszki Street, alongside a water equipment rental point and sailing marinas. A catamaran runs across the lake. The link with the Wełna and Nielba rivers, which cross each other in Wągrowiec, makes the lake a natural stage of canoeing trips, and anglers fish here from the shore and from boats.

The promenade and walks

The shores are ringed by a promenade some eleven kilometres long, with an even surface used by walkers, runners, cyclists and nordic walking enthusiasts. Sculptures by artists from Poznań stand along the whole route, turning a lap of the lake into an open-air gallery.
