Gdańsk
The small beach at Westerplatte lies in Gdańsk, right next to one of Poland's best-known sites of remembrance. Before the Second World War it was very popular with residents and holidaymakers; today it is visited mainly by tourists who reach the peninsula while touring the battlefield. Access is from Sucharskiego street.
The beach stretches between Westerplatte and the Northern Port, which makes it an unusual observation point. From the shore you can watch ships entering the Gdańsk harbour and heading out to sea, with the terminal infrastructure outlined in the background. It is a place for observers and walkers rather than for beachgoers looking for a classic resort.
The bathing area is unguarded — entering the water is at your own risk. The beach is narrow and has no typical facilities, so a visit is best combined with the monument and the remains of the Military Transit Depot.
