A pond in the centre of Opole

The Castle Pond, also known as Barlicki Pond, lies in the very centre of Opole, at the foot of the Piast Tower. The water body is a remnant of the moat of the former Piast castle and today forms a green enclave among the busy downtown streets.

The singing fountain

A multimedia fountain has been installed on the water, with a wooden pier at the bank from which the shows are comfortably watched. The fountain is accompanied by hits made famous at the Opole song festival, and in the evening the water is additionally lit by lasers. Benches stand all around, so the music can be enjoyed sitting down.

Winter and the surroundings

In winter an ice rink is set up on the pond and used by residents and visitors alike. Also worth noticing is the Ice House of 1909 standing by the water, built in a style referring to Lusatian architecture and now housing a café.
