A lake on the Polanów Upland

Jezioro Obłęskie, known in Kashubian as Òblëżccz, lies in the Pomeranian Voivodeship near the village of Obłęż in the Kępice municipality. Covering about 62 hectares, it fills a hollow in the Polanów Upland, in a landscape of post-glacial hills and extensive forests. It is one of the quieter lakes in this part of Pomerania.

Water and nature

This is a flow-through lake, linked by a narrow passage with the basin of the Wieprza river. Much of the shoreline is wooded, which favours waterfowl and provides shelter from the wind. Walking around the lake and along the nearby forest tracks is the main attraction for those seeking quiet away from the crowded coast.

Facilities

Amenities are concentrated at the Sobótka holiday centre, which offers a beach, a bathing area, a marina and accommodation. There is also a rental point for canoes, pedal boats and rowing boats, so the lake can be explored from the water as well.
