Jezioro Międzybrodzkie, also known as the Międzybrodzie Reservoir, lies east of Bielsko-Biała in the Silesian Voivodeship. It was created in 1937 when the waters of the Soła were dammed at Porąbka, and together with the Żywiec and Czaniec lakes it forms the Soła Cascade.
The shores are enclosed by the wooded ridges of the Little Beskids, including Góra Żar, whose summit holds the upper reservoir of the Porąbka-Żar pumped-storage power plant. Well-known holiday villages line the water: Międzybrodzie Bialskie, Międzybrodzie Żywieckie and Żarnówka Duża and Mała.
The reservoir combines flood control and power generation with recreation. Lakeside centres offer beaches, jetties and boating equipment, while marked trails let you combine time by the water with walks along the surrounding ridges.
