A reservoir in the Low Beskids

Jezioro Klimkówka, also known as the Klimkówka Reservoir, is a dam lake on the Ropa river, located in the village of Klimkówka south of Gorlice, in Lesser Poland. The water fills a valley squeezed between the forested ridges of the Low Beskids, so the shoreline is winding and the views change every few hundred metres.

Recreation by the water

The surroundings are being developed step by step: a cycling and walking route several kilometres long, promenades, barbecue shelters and further stretches of beach have been created. In winter part of the paths is used by cross-country skiers. Sailors come here willingly, and traffic on the water is supervised by a harbour master. The bathing area remains unguarded, so you enter the water at your own risk.

Good to know

Klimkówka is a convenient base for hiking in the Low Beskids: the trails to the nearby summits start close by, as do the Lemko wooden churches scattered along the Ropa valley. The season by the lake runs mainly from late spring to early autumn.
