ul. Brynicka, Kozłowa Góra, Wieś Świerklaniec
The Kozłowa Góra reservoir, also known as the Świerklaniec reservoir, was formed by damming the Brynica river in the Świerklaniec municipality near Piekary Śląskie, in the Silesian Voivodeship. It is one of the larger bodies of water in this part of the region.
It was built between 1933 and 1939 for military purposes, as part of the Silesian Fortified Area. After the war it served as a drinking-water reservoir for the conurbation, and over time it became above all a wildlife and recreation area.
A concrete dam stands on the southern shore, while an earth-and-concrete embankment runs along the western side, popular with walkers and nordic walkers. The remaining banks are undeveloped: wet meadows and reed beds shelter birds, including species listed in the Polish Red Data Book. Swimming in the reservoir is prohibited.
