An azure lake in the centre of Trzebinia

Balaton in Trzebinia is a small reservoir right in the middle of the town, in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, on the edge of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. It fills a flooded limestone quarry, which gives it clean water of a distinctly azure colour and a name borrowed from the Hungarian lake.

What to see

A recreation area has been laid out around the water: a guarded municipal bathing area, pools suspended above the surface and a zip line roughly 470 metres long. Footpaths run along the shore, with views of the steep limestone walls of the former quarry.

Who it suits

The site is aimed above all at families with children and anyone looking for an active day by the water close to town. Outside the bathing season it remains a place for walks. Chrzanów, Krzeszowice and the rock formations of the Jura are a short drive away.
