A quiet lake near Olsztynek

Lake Mielno lies beside the village of the same name in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Olsztynek is about eight kilometres away, and a little further on stretches the Grunwald battlefield. The lake covers roughly 365 hectares and is managed as a commercial fishery.

Angling and leisure

The water is first of all a fishing ground, holding bream, roach, zander, whitefish, pike and eel. Angling requires a permit from the operator. A small beach with a jetty has been arranged on the north-western shore, with a seasonal bar and kayak rental beside it.

Who it suits

This is a place for those seeking quiet rather than a crowded resort. The lake suits unhurried paddling along wooded shores, and the surroundings invite short trips to the open-air museum in Olsztynek and to the fields of Grunwald.
