A ribbon lake in Kashubia

Lake Mausz, Môùsz in Kashubian, lies in the Kashubian Lake District north-east of Bytów, close to Parchowo and Sulęczyno, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is a ribbon lake — long, narrow and with a varied shoreline.

Landscape

A peninsula carrying the holiday village of Ostrów Mausz cuts into the water and divides the lake into clearly separated parts. The banks are covered with woodland typical of Kashubia, and the lake adjoins a network of smaller lakes and rivers that form the region's popular canoeing routes.

Who it suits

A holiday centre on the shore offers rooms and cabins, a guarded bathing area, sports pitches, a tennis court, water equipment hire and campfire sites. Cycling, running and nordic walking routes have been marked around the lake. Anglers catch zander, pike, vendace, tench, bream, perch and eel here.
