Krucze Skały via ferrata

Krucze Skały (Raven Rocks) is a group of granite crags (two imposing towers about 30 m high) located on the right bank of the Kamienna river in Szklarska Poręba, in the Karkonosze Mountains, near the border with the Czech Republic. This is the site of one of the first and oldest via ferratas in Poland, opened in 2006. For many years it was described as the only classic "iron path" in the country.

Location and surroundings

The rocks lie in the Kamienna valley, reached by forest paths from Mickiewicza Street and the red trail towards Szrenica. The surroundings have a mountain-and-forest character, typical of the Karkonosze.

What to see / route

The route is approx. 120 m long and rated difficulty B (on the five-grade A–E scale). The first section leads over rocks inclined at about 70 degrees, secured with steel cables and equipped with metal steps and clamps. The second section is a rope bridge connecting two rocks over a chasm several dozen metres deep. The upper part of the ferrata offers a view of the surroundings.

Who it is for

The site serves, among other purposes, as a training ground for climbers and people preparing for more difficult Alpine ferratas. It requires your own equipment and basic familiarity with mountain terrain.

Infrastructure

There is no equipment rental or on-site service - participants must have their own set (helmet, harness, ferrata lanyard with shock absorber and two carabiners). Nearby (approx. 300 m) there is a small, paid car park with a limited number of spaces.
