Wieś Mały Głęboczek
Lake Sopień lies in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the Brzozie commune, beside the village of Mały Głęboczek, north-east of Brodnica. It sits in the valley of the Drwęca river, in the middle of the Brodnica Lakeland, on land protected within the Natura 2000 network. Forests and wet meadows surround it and the shoreline is little indented.
This is above all an angling lake — pike, carp, crucian carp and perch are caught here. Birds are the second attraction: in spring, flocks returning from their wintering grounds settle on the meadows of the Drwęca valley, and the early hours by the water offer the best viewing conditions. Bring binoculars and footwear that copes with damp.
The banks on the village side are fairly steep and there is no developed bathing area or beach. A family-friendly agritourism farm operates nearby and there is a horse stud in the area. Sopień is a place for a quiet stop close to nature rather than for beach recreation.
