A pond in the Barycz Valley

Jezioro Szperek is a small body of water in Antonin, a village of around five hundred residents in the Przygodzice commune, Ostrów county. It lies on the edge of the Barycz Valley Landscape Park, surrounded by pine forest. Despite its modest size, the pond acts as the local recreation hub — the village's summer life revolves around it.

Waterside leisure

The „Lido" holiday centre operates on the shore, with a sandy beach running down to the water right at the treeline. In summer the swimming area and a water equipment rental point are open, and games for children are organised. Anglers have dedicated spots along the bank, and camping cabins provide accommodation.

The surrounding area

Antonin takes its name from Antoni Radziwiłł, whose wooden hunting palace stands near the pond and is today the village landmark. The „Wydymacz" nature reserve, with its famous Antonin oaks, begins beside it. The Church of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn is also worth a look, and in autumn the village hosts the „Chopin in Autumn Colours" festival.
